The Simple Past Tense
The simple past tense is used for the following :
1- To explain action in the past.
Examples:
- She went home yesterday.
- I ran to the bus stop.
2 – Conditional statements/situations.
Examples:
- If I were you, I would not do something like that.
- If I had enough time, I can write a better article.
3 – When direct speech change to indirect speech.
Examples:
- Direct : He said, “I will donate my money to the charity.”
- Indirect : He said that he would donate his money to the charity.
